Park Playa Bara reviews

Finding a campsite that keeps teenagers happy is notoriously difficult, but Park Playa Barà completely delivered. We travelled with our 13 and 16-year-olds, and there was never a dull moment. The sports facilities (basketball, tennis, and mini-golf) are top-notch, and the evening entertainment in the spectacular Roman amphitheatre is brilliant. There is even an underground disco that our older teen loved, and it gave them a safe space to hang out in the evenings.If you are looking at this site for an active family holiday, you will want to keep a few things in mind to ensure everything goes smoothly.

Because the entertainment is so spectacular, the music and shows go on late into the evening, meaning it can get quite loud. The pitches that are located further way from the noise are the campsite owned accommodation and Suncamp mobile homes. We stayed with Suncamp, however if you choose campsite owned, definitely email the campsite in advance to request a pitch slightly further away from the main amphitheatre and bar areas. Also, depending on who you book through, you will likely need to hand over a €100 cash deposit for cleaning and damages as soon as you check in. Make sure you have this on hand so you aren't scrambling for an ATM after a long travel day.

For dinner, while the on-site restaurants are lovely, our best tip is to wander down to the beach and look for the little "chiringuitos" (beach shacks). They serve incredible tapas and fresh fish right on the sand, making them perfect for a relaxed family dinner as the sun sets.One of the biggest selling points of this campsite is its unbeatable location for day trips and exploring nearby attractions.

You are only a short drive from PortAventura World and Ferrari Land, which are absolute must-do theme parks for thrill-seeking teenagers. For a cultural palate-cleanser, you can head down the coast to the historic city of Tarragona to explore the impressive ancient Roman Amphitheatre right on the sea, as well as the Les Ferreres Aqueduct. Much closer to the campsite, you can walk to the picturesque village of El Roc de Sant Gaietà, which features beautiful Andalusian and Moorish-inspired architecture, narrow alleyways, and fantastic ice cream. We also highly recommend exploring the local natural beaches like Cala Roca Plana, or walking into town to snap a photo of the iconic Arc de Berà, a very old Roman arch built along the ancient Via Augusta.

In summary this was an amazing, lively base camp for active families. You get the perfect mix of beach relaxation, on-site sports, and easy access to some of Spain’s best attractions.

A beautiful Roman-themed getaway, but pack smart and prepare for hills!

We’ve just returned from a two-week stay at Park Playa Barà with our 4-year-old and 7-year-old, and overall, it was a fantastic family holiday. The absolute highlight of this campsite is the Roman-themed pool complex. It is stunning, complete with statues, a dolphin-shaped kids' pool, and brilliant slides that kept our youngest entertained for hours. The direct access to a beautiful, clean sandy beach is also a huge bonus when you don't want to pack everyone into a car.

Here are our top tips for travelling with little ones:

- Since our mobile home only had a monitor rather than a working TV with channels, and the Wi-Fi is mostly limited to communal areas, you'll definitely want to bring your own entertainment by downloading plenty of movies onto iPads before you leave home or bringing a wallet of DVDs for quiet afternoon downtimes.

- The beautifully landscaped gardens and lush greenery are gorgeous, but they do mean mosquitoes are very active, especially in the evenings, so don't forget to pack some heavy-duty bug spray and plug-ins for the bedrooms.

- Because our accommodation didn't provide soap, shower gel, or a welcome pack of tea and coffee, I highly recommend bringing along your own travel-sized toiletries and basic essentials to get you through the first day until you can hit the on-site supermarket.

- If you are relying on a stroller for a toddler, be prepared for a bit of a leg workout when walking back up from the beach or the pool area, as the campsite can be quite hilly in places!

Overall a gorgeous, incredibly clean campsite with amazing pools. Perfect for little ones, just make sure you come prepared with the right essentials.

The whole family absolutely love Park Playa Bara, and we come back here year after year. The park is always clean and the staff are so friendly and helpful. The kids love the pool area which has loads of slides, and the park is also right next to the beach. The kids were always kept busy and entertained throughout the whole holiday, as there are loads of activities for them to choose from (mini-golf and archery are their favourites). The evening entertainment is fantastic, especially the shows in the ampitheatre.

The food at the park is good and reasonable in price, although most of the time we preferred to have our own BBQ's (the park has a good supermarket which stocks anything you'd need) and occasionally we ate at the bars by the beach.
We would recommend this park to all families.
