Cala Gogo reviews

We visited as a family of five (Mum, Dad, and three girls aged 4, 7, and 11). Overall, Cala Gogo is a fantastic, high-energy site, but there are a few things every family should know before booking. With 6 pools and several slides, our girls were in heaven. The 4-year-old loved the splash pool with animal statues, while the 7 and 11-year-olds spent hours on the "mega" slides. A huge bonus is that you can use the facilities at the sister site, Internacional de Calonge, next door. This essentially doubles your pool and playground options. The site is famously steep. Thankfully, a free mini-train (the "Gua Gua") runs constantly to shuttle you from the top of the hill down to the private beach and pools. It saved us a lot of carrying for the 4-year-old! The site has a beautiful, clean cove with direct access. It’s slightly pebbly/shingly rather than soft sand, so bring beach shoes.

Things to consider:
Believe the reviews, it is a very steep site! If your accommodation is at the top, you’ll get a serious leg workout. We wouldn’t recommend it for anyone with mobility issues or heavy strollers. For checking into the Cala Gogo site, peak times can be busy, so try to arrive slightly outside the main rush.

Nearby Reccommended Visits:
- Platja d'Aro (2km): A lively town perfect for a family stroll. The girls loved PP’s Park, an amusement park with vintage rides and trampolines.

- Aquadiver Water Park: Just a 5-minute drive away. If the onsite slides aren't enough, this is a world-class day out.

- Pals & Begur: For a change of pace, these medieval villages are about 20 minutes away. They are incredibly picturesque and great for a "culture day" with gelato.

- Cami de Ronda: This coastal path runs right past the site. We did a short walk toward Palamós, the views of the Mediterranean are stunning.

Cala Gogo is Perfect for active families who want plenty of entertainment and don't mind a few hills. Our daughters are already asking to go back!

Great campsite that was well maintained, there is a mini-supermarket and restaurant as well as three swimming pools (only one was heated though, which meant the other two were quite nippy in the morning). The campsite is close to the beach, which has a play area for the kids and a bar for us adults! We never really left the campsite, so I can’t comment on the local attractions. Overall we had a great holiday, and would definitely come back here again for some cheap summer sun!

Nice campsite, which is built on a hillside, although it’s not too steep, it may be unsuitable for wheelchair users. Good pool area (including a paddling pool), nice restaurant with reasonably priced food and there is also a shop and bakery too. There is beach a short walk away, although its not a sandy beach, its made of tiny little stones (it doesn’t hurt to walk on them).
