Château de Galinée reviews

Château de Galinée campsite, Brittany, France

The Grace Family | July 2025

We visited as a family of four (Mum, Dad, 9-year-old boy, and 6-year-old daughter). This 5-star site is set in the beautiful wooded grounds of a traditional Breton manor house. It’s perfect for families who want a balanced mix of "nature" and "water park thrills" without the intense noise of the bigger Mediterranean resorts. The water park is excellent. Our 6-year-old daughter loved the heated indoor pool and the shallow splash zones, while the 9-year-old spent his entire time on the Spacebowl and Crazy Cone slides. The "magic river" was a family favorite for drifting together. There is a great mini-farm where the kids can see animals, plus several well-spaced playgrounds and even a zip-line. The 9-year-old also enjoyed the fishing ponds (you can catch carp and eels!).

Unlike some cramped sites, the pitches here are generally large and surrounded by trees and hedges, giving a real sense of being in the French countryside. Being in Brittany, the weather can be unpredictable. Having a large, high-quality heated indoor pool area saved our holiday on a couple of drizzly afternoons.

Things to consider:
The site is about 3–4km from the nearest beach and town. It’s a bit too far to walk with a 6-year-old, so you’ll need to drive or bring bikes. While there is entertainment (like Breton themed nights and magic shows), it is much lower-key than the "party" atmosphere of sites in the south. The on-site shop is quite basic. It’s perfect for morning baguettes, but for a full family shop, you'll need to drive to the supermarkets in Matignon or Saint-Cast.

Nearby Must-Visits:
Saint-Cast-le-Guildo (7 min drive): A lovely seaside resort with seven different sandy beaches. The Grande Plage has a beautiful promenade and great ice cream parlors.

Fort La Latte & Cap Fréhel (20 min drive): A spectacular cliff-top castle that looks like something out of a movie. Our 9-year-old loved exploring the towers.

Dinan (30 min drive): One of the best-preserved medieval towns in France. The steep cobbled streets and harbor are incredibly picturesque.

Grand Aquarium de Saint-Malo (30 min drive): A brilliant day trip. The kids loved the 360-degree shark tank and the "Nautibus" mini-submarine ride.

We visited this park in a two site stay in the school summer holidays. We got an amazing last minute deal with Jetcamp that saved us 400 euros compared to other operators. Kids loved the indoor pool the most. Overall it's an ideal choice for families looking for a high-quality, relaxed campsite with excellent pools. It’s particularly great for children aged 5-12 who enjoy a bit of space to run around.
