Butterfly campsite reviews
Butterfly, Peschiera, Italian Lakes, Italy
As a family that usually heads to the large, sprawling parks in France, we were looking for something a bit more intimate for our first trip to Lake Garda. Camping Village Butterfly in Peschiera was the perfect find—it has that "small-scale charm" while still providing the high-quality facilities we’ve come to expect from our French breaks. Being just 50 metres from the lake and a short, beautiful 10-minute walk into the historic centre of Peschiera del Garda was a game-changer. We didn't need the car for days; we just wandered in for dinner or grabbed a gelato by the harbour.
The pool area is compact but well-designed. Our 6-year-old loved the separate kids' pool with its slides, while the 9-year-old spent his time in the larger family pool. It’s unheated, so it’s very refreshing on a hot Italian afternoon!
The site feels incredibly safe. Our kids loved the "Butterfly House" play area and the evening mini-disco. It has a much calmer vibe than the massive "mega-parks" nearby like Bella Italia, which we really appreciated.
Tip: Bring or buy a swimming hat! They are mandatory here (like in many Italian parks), but you can pick them up easily at the on-site shop.
We've booked through a few different operators in the past, but we stick with Suncamp because they consistently offer great accommodation. Our mobile home didn;t disapoint this time around, with it being in pristine condition. Our Suncamp home felt modern, spotlessly clean, and featured a large, comfortable wooden terrace where we spent most our evening dining.
The extra touches—like proper comfortable beds and high-end kitchen appliances—make it feel less like a "campsite" and more like a luxury villa. It's that French-level quality we always look for.
Overall we would reccommend this holiday park, friendly, perfectly located and lots of active options for the kids. It's ideal for families who want the freedom of a park holiday but with luxury accommodation.
Just got back from a fantastic holiday! We were really lucky with the weather and the campsite and area were fantastic, everything that we had hoped for! The staff/reps were friendly, and were always on hand to give directions or to recommend things to see and do. Campsite is small and well looked after, and is right next to a beach where you can hire peddalos!
The food in the campsite restaurant was nice and reasonably priced, although the onsite shop was a little expensive, but very handy if you needed bits and bobs.
Our Eurocamp accommodation was great and had everything we needed (although the wine opener was missing when we arrived, but the Eurocamp rep got a replacement within an hour!). We heard that a lot of Canvas customers were unhappy with their mobile homes, saying they were small and dirty, and their reps were unfriendly, but we didn’t have any of these problems with Eurocamp. Overall we had a great holiday, but think that if we come back to Lake Garda again, we'll probably explore a different area (as it’s much bigger than you think!).
We (family of 5) stayed at camping butterfly in Lake Garda for 7 days. The main reason we choose this campsite was because we had always wanted to go to Lake Garda and Venice (you can do a day trip to Venice on the train – not much point driving there as you can’t take your car into Venice).
Campsite was relatively small compared to the campsites we usually go to in France, but I think that this added to the charm. The campsite has a small swimming pool, although we never used it as the water was quite cold. We spent most of the time at the pebble beach which is right next to the campsite. We also did day trips to Venice and Gardaland. The campsite is well organised with friendly staff, and it has the usual shop and restaurant. We only ate at the restaurant once as we prefer to cook our own food, although we did go to a nice restaurant in Peschiera (about a 10-15 minute walk), but I have forgotten what it was called sorry. Overall, the whole family enjoyed the holiday, and we will definitely be coming back here in a few years time!
Visted Camping Butterfly for a 5 night stay in June with Suncamp and thought it was a lovely campsite. Smaller than the bigger sites in the Lake area but well kept and it had a really friendly atmosphere. Would recommend it for all the family age groups, and especially for the day excursions off site.
