Bonne Anse Plage (S.A) reviews

Bonne Anse Plage, Charente maritime, La Palmyre, 17570 Les Mathes, France

The Trent Family | August 2025

As a family that usually gravitates toward the sunny, lively holiday parks of Italy, we weren't sure if the French Atlantic coast could match that same energy—but Bonne Anse Plage absolutely nailed it. It combines the outdoor freedom we love with a "big resort" feel that kept our 7 and 9-year-olds thrilled. If your kids loved the big waterparks in Italy, they'll be at home here. The slides are fast and exhilarating (the 9-year-old was obsessed!), and the pool is heated, which is a nice touch for those Atlantic breezes. Cycling was the best part of the trip. The park is nestled in a pine forest with direct access to miles of flat, safe cycle paths. We felt that same sense of Italian "piazza freedom"—we could cycle into La Palmyre in 10 minutes for gelato or explore the massive sand dunes nearby.

The kids' pirate club for 5-9s was a huge hit. It gave them a chance to make friends, while we enjoyed a quiet coffee on our terrace—that classic, stress-free holiday park lifestyle. The beach directly behind the park is actually a picturesque bay (great for sunsets and spotting crabs!), but for proper swimming and surfing, cycle 10 minutes to the Côte Sauvage. The waves there are incredible!

Like our favorite Italian breaks, food is central here. The on-site restaurant does great pizza and seafood, but we also loved the freedom of the local markets. The La Palmyre Zoo is also right on the doorstep and is a genuine "must-do"—it’s easily one of the best we’ve seen. It's a lively, friendly site. The evening entertainment has that high-energy "Animation Team" feel we usually associate with the Adriatic coast, which really brought the park to life at night.

For families who love the structure and fun of Italian parks but want to trade the Mediterranean for the rugged beauty of the Atlantic, this is a winner. The freedom to explore on two wheels is unbeatable.

Had a really good holiday here. Pool appealed to children of all ages. Good entertainment at night. Great cycle routes to the nearest village and lovely flat beaches only 10 minute walk away (the campsites beach wasn't that great). Overall a lovely holiday and would return here again with the family.

Visited Bonne Anse S.A in July this year with two children aged 13 and 8. Had a wonderful time. Pool complex was excellent, good choice of slides for the kids. Beach at rear of site was a marsh, picturesque and ok for fishing but not suitable for a fun day out. However, plenty of excellent beaches nearby. Good supermarket, butchery and fishmonger on site, a little pricey though. Entertainment enjoyed by the kids at night and after 11:30 they would meet up with friends on the playing field. Brilliant cycle path at rear of site connecting you to nearby beaches. Definitely take your bikes if you can (cycle hire was a little overpriced).

Would certainly recommend visiting La Rochelle if you have a car, it is a beautiful area will lots of lovely sights and picturesque ports. Kids loved the large aquarium and the Zoo in la Palmyre, some of the enclosures were a little small but plenty of opportunities to feed the animals.
We had no problems with noise and the entertainment would stop 11:30 at night so tended to get a good nights sleep for the day ahead. All in all, a great holiday and would definitely return to Bonne Anse and this area again.

Pool complex is excellent here, clean, lots of space and plenty of slides. Stayed in a Siblu mobile home which was spacious, airy and modern. Siblu reps where very helpful suggesting places to visit in the area and even changed our gas late in the evening after it had run out. Fantastic campsite and great holiday, suggest hiring a car and visiting the immense sand dunes of Gascony, definitely a must see!

Huge campsite, but felt secure. Great kids clubs. Big pool area with slides etc, kids will love it. They will also love the disco at night. Great location, great campsite, great holiday!

The McAlpine Family | July 2008

Although it is advertised as being next to the beach, what they don't tell you is that it is partly a mud beach! The park does have a great swimming pool area, but we prefer beaches to swimming pools, so we were quite disappointed. The campsite is set in a forest, so most of the pitches have some shade and are sandy rather than grass, so you are constantly having to sweep out your mobile home. Other than that, the park was fantastic. Our children loved the kids clubs and the evening entertainment was good!
