Quarteira reviews

Our family was looking for a spot right in the mix of the Algarve, and Camping Orbitur Quarteira definitely ticked the box for location! We loved how easy it was to get out and explore the area without always needing to jump in a car, although it wasn't the most luxurious stay we've ever had. It had a bit of a dated, nostalgic vibe—think 1970s holiday camp—which worked fine since we spent most of our days out at Zoo Marina and splashing in the ocean waves. While it’s a shame the park is permanently closed due to the land being sold, here is a quick breakdown of the pros and cons from our experience when it was still welcoming campers.

The Pros:

- Fantastic Location: It was only a 10-15 minute walk to some beautiful sandy beaches, and just a quick 5-minute stroll to the local supermarket to grab daily essentials for the kids.
- Great Base Camp: It was super convenient for day trips! We easily took a taxi to the nearby Zoo Marina (which the kids absolutely loved) and hired bikes to cycle over to the Vilamoura marina.
- Lovely Pools: The swimming area was really nice, and they had a dedicated paddling pool which is an absolute must-have when traveling with little ones.

The Cons:

- Dated Facilities & Cramped Space: The accommodation and living areas felt a bit cramped for a larger family, and the overall park facilities felt quite old and in need of modernizing.
- Hit-or-Miss Onsite Amenities: The onsite supermarket and cafe were a bit disappointing with very limited stock (we struggled to find good BBQ food!), and sun loungers weren't allowed directly around the children's pool.
- Occasional Noise: We had a couple of noisy nights with other groups partying late, though the onsite couriers did help sort it out eventually. Some of the main reception staff could have also been a bit friendlier.
